Heusinikveld unveils the One SC steering wheel with display for Simucube 3

To some surprise, Heusinkveld has unveiled a new version of its controversial Heusinkveld One steering wheel. It features a 4.3-inch display, weighs just 1,060 grams without the QR and is optimised for the Simucube 3 Wheelbase.

Same concept – Now for the Simucube 3 and with a screen

The original Heusinkveld One sparked a great deal of debate within the sim-racing community. At the time, the manufacturer had deliberately opted against including a display, focusing instead on uncompromising purism and an extremely lightweight design. This performance-oriented, industrial look divided opinion: some considered it the perfect steering wheel, free of unnecessary clutter, whilst others found it almost too spartan compared to the competition.

With the new Heusinkveld One SC, the manufacturer is now attempting an exciting balancing act. The lightweight construction DNA remains intact and is enhanced by a 4.3-inch touchscreen as well as direct integration into the much-discussed Simucube 3 ecosystem. What’s particularly interesting is that, whilst the steering wheel is fully tailored to the Simucube 3 wheelbases and can be connected wirelessly via their quick-release mechanism, Heusinkveld has built in a clever workaround. Via an internal USB port, the One SC can also be used with other wheelbases – even though it is equipped with the specific Simucube screen.

The question is: will this blend of old-school purism and a modern display ecosystem win over the critics of the first model?
