FANATEC vs. MOZA: New Direct-Drive Systems for PlayStation 5
At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, two new direct drive systems for the PlayStation 5 will be unveiled. While FANATEC’s ClubSport F1 Racing System largely relies on proven technology, MOZA is entering the PlayStation market for the first time with three products. This sets the stage for an exciting duel between an established provider and an ambitious newcomer.

FANATEC opts for proven technology
The new ClubSport F1 Racing System from FANATEC relies on tried-and-tested hardware. The well-known ClubSport DD+ Wheel Base provides a holding torque of up to 18 Nm and supports the FullForce technology. The steering wheel is also based on an existing model, but has been given a new F1 design and an enhanced range of features. So, FANATEC is presenting more of an improved combination of tried-and-tested components than a technical innovation.
Products used:
- ClubSport DD+ Wheel Base: Direct drive base with 18 Nm holding torque and FullForce technology.
- ClubSport F1 V3 Steering Wheel: F1 version of the ClubSport Formula V3 with an OLED display, RGB LEDs and a Podium Advanced Paddle Module.

MOZA Racing enters the PS5 market
MOZA Racing is officially entering the market for PlayStation 5 steering wheels for the first time. Unlike Fanatec, the manufacturer is presenting not just one system, but three different Direct-Drive products. The models are said to offer native support for Gran Turismo 7 and were developed in collaboration with Polyphony Digital. The PlayStation compatibility chip is located directly in the wheel base, allowing for the use of various compatible MOZA steering wheels. Additionally, the existing MOZA accessories are compatible with the new bases.
Featured products:
- MOZA R5S Pro Racing Simulator: A complete package with a direct drive wheel base, steering wheel, and pedals for beginners.
- The MOZA R16S Ultra Racing Simulator is a high-performance system consisting of an R16S Ultra base and a steering wheel.
- MOZA R16S Ultra Direct Drive Wheel Base: A separately available base for individually assembled setups.

Experience meets Newcomer
FANATEC has many years of experience with officially licensed PlayStation hardware and uses proven components in the new ClubSport F1 Racing System. In contrast, MOZA Racing is entering the PS5 market for the first time and aims to impress with multiple direct-drive systems, native support for Gran Turismo 7, and a wide range of compatible accessories. Both manufacturers are currently awaiting final product approval from Sony Interactive Entertainment. After successful approval, the systems will go into production and will be available for sale at a later date. Specific information on prices and sales dates is not yet available. Which announcement do you find more interesting: the refined F1 system from Fanatec or the PS5 entry of MOZA Racing?
