While many manufacturers are currently focusing on discounts, things are heating up at Asetek. In recent days, the Chinese company Suzhou Chunqiu Electronic Technology made a surprising takeover bid for Asetek. In addition, a new, more affordable quick release was introduced today with the Asetek Racing Universal QR Adapter.

With the new Quick Release, Asetek is responding to the community’s desire for a more affordable QR solution. Composite materials have now been used instead of solid aluminium, and the previously included extensions have been omitted. The new QR still features a USB-A pass-through and supports steering wheels with a hole size of 70 mm or 50.8 mm.

The new QR is currently available in the Asetek webshop for €90.50. Asetek is offering a 3-for-2 deal on the purchase of a Forte or Invicta wheel base. You can also save money with Creator Codes, which currently offer a 5 per cent discount.

Takeover bid from China

Danish cooling specialist and sim racing hardware provider Asetek is facing a complete takeover: Chinese electronics company Suzhou Chunqiu Electronic Technology has submitted a cash offer for all shares through its subsidiary CQXA Holdings. The purchase price is said to be DKK 547.4 million (equivalent to approximately US$85 million). The deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder approval. The sim racing division Asetek SimSports, launched in 2021, would also be included in the takeover. It started with high-priced direct-drive wheelbases, pedals, and steering wheels and has recently set its sights on the entry-level market and, in the future, consoles with the new, more affordable Initium series.

CEO André Eriksen has already commented positively on the takeover, which means that the chances of it going ahead are very high. The continued existence of the sim racing division is therefore not in danger, and development is to continue in Denmark.

Asetek is a global company with employees in Asia, Europe and US. We are listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen and have global owners, too. A Chinese company within the PC/Automotive industry has submitted an offer to all Asetek’s current shareholders. Asetek possesses unique knowledge and IP from pioneering liquid cooling in data centers for a decade. This is now very valuable in the AI space. There are too many details for a Facebook thread, but in the future Asetek will still be a Danish company with HQ in Denmark, with employees in Denmark, US, Taiwan and China. Our products and software will still be developed in Denmark. I, the entire management team and all current employees will stay on board. We will expand in Denmark. No I have not learned Chinese 😉
