Ascher Racing YOUR ULTIMATE – Custom high-end steering wheel
Ascher Racing has been offering the ‘YOUR ULTIMATE’ configurator on its website for around three months. This can be used to customise various aspects of the current top-of-the-range McLaren Artura Ultimate model.
Various options for customisation
Ascher Racing provided a ‘Simracing-PC’ version of the McLaren Artura Ultimate steering wheel for this article. Naturally, all aluminium parts were selected in black, and the ‘Simracing-PC’ logo on the front was also included.
Simracers can use the configurator to design their own steering wheel with custom logos on both the front and the top. The option of having your own logo lasered directly onto the steering wheel by the manufacturer is currently unique in this form. The colours of the aluminium parts can also be freely selected.
- Top Logo: Here you can either choose from a selection of predefined logos or place a custom logo. The latter must be provided by the user as a single-colour white .SVG file and may be no larger than 90 x 17 mm (width x height).
- Front Logo: Here, too, you can either choose from the ready-made selection or upload your own logo. In this case, the logo is placed in an area of 94 x 16 mm (width x height).
- Aluminium parts: These can be selected in different colours.
- Joystick left / Joystick right : Black, blue, red, gold
- Rotatable left / Rotatable right : Black, blue, red, gold
- Lower thumb encoder left / Lower thumb encoder right : Black, blue, red, gold
- Upper thumb encoder left / Upper thumb encoder right : Black, blue, red, gold
Instead of the logos, it is also possible to select your own text with a maximum of 15 characters each.
Ordering and prices
For the complete customisation of the steering wheel, Ascher Racing charges an additional €200 to the regular McLaren Artura Ultimate steering wheel (price: €1,499). All possible modifications are included in the price, but comparative prices are very difficult to give. Only for the aluminium parts is it possible to customise the steering wheel yourself using third-party components or the ‘Ascher Racing Knob Kit’ (link) also offered by Ascher Racing. The latter is offered at a price of €99, but the steering wheel has to be dismantled into its individual parts in order to modify the thumb encoders. The price for the customisation is definitely not a bargain, but it gives Simracers a higher degree of individualisation than anywhere else.
