3D-Simgear LED-Flag Pro Version – Review
Ordering and shipping
Scope of delivery
The scope of delivery of the LED Flag Pro version is very limited and, in addition to the flag itself, only includes the carbon holder and two screws to attach it to the flag. Unfortunately, you won’t find a USB cable or printed instructions. However, the latter can be found in the form of a PDF file on the manufacturer’s website.
- LED Flag Pro Version
- Carbon bracket
- 2 screws for mounting the bracket on the flag
Compatibility and driver
The well-known software Simhub (link: https://www.simhubdash.com/) and the appropriate driver for the Arduino (linked in the instruction PDF from 3D-Simgear) are required to operate the flag. Basically, the RGB matrix is compatible with all common simracing titles that are supported by Simhub:
- Assetto Corsa und Assetto Corsa Competizione
- Automobilista 1 und 2
- Dirt 2
- Farming Simulator
- F1 2018, 2019, 2020
- Project Cars 1 und 2
- RFactor 2
- iRacing
- and more
Materials
The biggest difference to the normal Flag from 3D-Simgear is the carbon front cover. This gives the Flag a much more elegant look and is a clear visual upgrade. The housing of the Flag is still 3D-printed. (FDM printing) and may therefore have some imperfect spots. However, the front and sides of the Flag were in immaculate condition in the test samples provided.
Mounting
The Flas can be attached to almost any rig with the included holder. Alternatively, the flag, which weighs only 70g, can also be attached with double-sided adhesive tape. This allows for more “exotic” positioning, for example directly on the side of a DD2 base from Fanatec.
Another very positive feature is the USB-C connection used in the current version. This is future-proof and an upgrade compared to the micro-USB cables used so far.
Setup
If you have installed Simhub and the current Arduino driver, Simhub recognises the LED flag that has already been pre-flashed and you can make all the settings there. 3D Simgear also provides profiles for operation with 2 flags.
If you only use one flag, you can start directly and only have to select the brightness and the functions to be used according to your taste.
Functions
In principle, Simhub allows you to freely programme each LED and link its function to certain in-game conditions. For the most important functions, however, Simhub already provides the corresponding code, which can be selected or deselected with just a few clicks. These include, among others:
- Flags
- Gan display
- Spotter function
Further actions and conditions can then be easily set up via predefined blocks. This means that even simracers without programming knowledge can implement their own ideas.

Conclusion
The LED flag remains a clear recommendation, also in the Pro version. There is hardly a cheaper way to visually upgrade your rig and at the same time get a useful additional source of information. The elegant design of the Flag with its carbon front is particularly appealing, as is the USB-C connection that is now used.
Thanks to the full compatibility with Simhub, you are also completely free to use the effects and can give free rein to your creativity.
A professionally printed housing and a connection cable included in the scope of delivery would further round off this otherwise excellent product. The price is also fair in comparison to DIY projects.
